Strategicon on Friday and Long Beach Comic Con on Sunday
Hey there gang! Phew, what a weekend. Last Friday we went to Strategicon and had a blast discovering new games and meeting some great people. My buddy Bob and I renewed our passion for Magic The Gathering. Now we will have two hobbies: Discgolf and Magic, lol!
Then we went to Long Beach Comic Con on Saturday and Sunday, and it was AB FAB!!! The cosplay was so fun, the artwork in the floor was amazing, I found a Thundercats Sword that Josie wouldn't let me drop a couple hundred bucks on (but one day... ONE DAY... that sword will be mine...), and we also met some great people. I am this much closer to joining the local Starfleet group in LA. All I need is a uniform, but which one? Science Officer? Engineering? or Commander? I really like Commander, but the Science Officer calls to me.
Two highlights:
1) I randomly sang Bee Gees songs with Cam Clarke, the voice of my favorite Ninja Turtle, Leonardo, from the 1987 cartoons that I grew up with.
2) I am also now eager to join the Planetary Society. The speaker, Geo Somoza, really inspired me greatly. I think after all this T4DR business eases up for us, I wanna maybe help them with their media. You know, use my talents to elevate science communication. We'll see.
Oh, we, of course, also had our screenings and Q&A there, and I gotta say, it went really well. Not as amazing as i was hoping, or dreaming, but I am by no means complaining. The crowds were small, but every single person who came LOVED the content and they were all excited to see more. So now, I'm as excited as ever to bring T4DR to LA Comic Con and NY Comic Con next month! And I have a new montra: "This is just the beginning."
