San Diego Comic Con

My God... I mean, MY GAWD!!! SDCC absolutely lives up to it's name. It's not only the biggest and most famous Comic Con in the world, it is literally the BEST Comic Con. 

People have been warning us that it's packed, like way overcrowded, but you know what? It was nowhere near as packed as the New York Comic Con, and I think it's simply because the San Diego Convention Center is just bigger. But honestly, it's not just because they had more space, it's ALL because of the people who worked it. It was the most organized comic con we've ever seen, and that really surprised us, cuz we expected chaos with that many people.

I (Everett) was an international sales agent for movies for 6 years and went to the Cannes Film Market during the biggest Film Festival in the world 8 times. SDCC literally felt just like Cannes. (LOL Con felt like Cannes - pronounced correctly Cannes sounds a bit like Con, well more like Can with a French accent)

WonderCon used to be our favorite because they were so industry driven and had really great panels to network and promote T4DR. But SDCC just blew WonderCon out of the water. Josie and I had to separate way more times in order to get to all the panels we needed to get to. No JOKE - we literally did NOT see Artist Alley at all, and we only made it to the main floor on Sunday - the FOURTH day!!! 

Get this - We're at our first Panel on Thursday with Felicia Day, who we've been following since WonderCon. I go up to the mic and tell Felicia how well our show is doing on Insta (1.4 million views). She congratulates me, and as I turn around, my buddy Brandon, who I haven't seen in years, from Texas, says "hey Everett." The complete random coincidence of this happening is mind boggling! I hug him and nearly all of the audience gives an Aw! THAT'S how our Con started. Comic Con was mind blowingly awesome for us, to say the least.

A most encouraging thing he said to me near the end of the Con. You see, he's now producing projects in Texas, but when I knew him he was a DP and worked on two films I directed. Brandon said "I have never met anyone going to Con to network, but you guys have made me see it in a new way." He was proud to see what we've become, and he watched T4DR and fell in love with the show. 

And that's just a small highlight. We met so many great industry people that we are trying to keep in touch with, even if it is only through Comic Cons. They even had to put out a rule that nobody pitches to the panelists, which is hilarious, cuz that's basically all we're doing.

Anyway, suffice it to say this Con was very good for us and we got a lot of new contacts and will be looking forward to following up and creating new relationships. Hopefully next year, we'll hit the floor a little more, but technically, that's not what we're there for, so we'll see.
